Comet is a sweet, soulful red longhair dachshund who came to us as a breeder release and is now discovering what it truly means to be someone’s beloved companion.
He can be a little shy at first, but once he feels safe, Comet’s true personality shines — and that personality is all about people. He absolutely loves human companionship, wants to be near his person, and would happily follow you from room to room just to stay close. Snuggles? Yes, please. All the time.
Comet shows no aggression at all and does well with other dogs overall. He may occasionally resource guard his person, so a home that understands dog behavior and can provide gentle guidance will help him succeed.
Because Comet spent his early life in a breeding environment, he is not potty trained and doesn’t yet understand that outside is where business happens. He appears to be more pad trained, so his new family should be prepared to patiently and consistently help him learn household routines.
Comet will do best in a patient, loving home that gives him a few days to settle in and decompress. Once he feels secure, he’s the kind of dog who will become your little shadow — devoted, affectionate, and happiest right by your side.
