Dorothy / Dottie is about 5 or 6 years old. She is a sweet dog. We think she would be better if she were the only dog, but over the last month she is warming up to our other 2 dachshunds. She is a little bit protective of her food. She would probably not be good around young puppies. Our son and daughter-in-law have an 8 week old dachshund and she was not very tolerant of him. She is not a true lap dog, she would prefer to sit next to you instead of your lap. She is not crate trained and has been sleeping with us in the bed since the beginning. She is very good sleeping in the bed with us, she normally goes under the covers to the foot of the bed and doesn’t bother us at night.
She is “dachshund potty trained”, meaning she goes outside most of the time, but has had a few indoor “accidents” in the 1+ month with us. She loves to play outside. We have 2 1/2 acres of fenced in yard and she has loved roaming and chasing squirrels. She does have a little separation anxiety and will follow you through the house.
