Tennessee Dachshund Rescue is excited to announce that we've been approved for a specialty Tennessee license plate beginning in 2026.
In order to establish the custom plate, we must have a minimum of 1,000 Tennessee residents sign up for a custom plate by June 2026.

FAQs:
1. When can I expect to receive my specialty plate?
Plates will be available for pick-up from your county clerk's office four to six months after final submission. Orders are submitted from TDR to Department of Revenue by June 30, 2026. Estimated pick-up would be October - December 2026.
2. What happens to my existing license plate?
Your current license plate will remain in service until the state notifies you that the new license plate is ready for pickup.
3. How do I renew the tags on my TDR license plate?
Just as a standard license plate, renewals are handled through the State of TN Department of Revenue. They will mail you a reminder postcard to renew your tags at the appropriate time.
4. What happens if we don't get 1,000 plate registrations?
If we are unable to secure the 1,000 plate registrations prior to the deadline, we can petition for a short extension. If we are still unable to secure the signatures, TDR will refund the $35 to everyone who requested a plate.
